What is a ragdoll sandbox game?

The characters are not played back from animations. Their bodies are made of parts joined by constraints, so they fall, tumble and react to whatever hits them. A sandbox adds tools and a room to use them in, with no required goal. Some ragdoll games are 2D and some are 3D; some run as installed programs and some, like Flopbox, run in the browser.

What to look for in one

• Reactions. Do bodies only go limp, or do they stagger, protect themselves and move when hurt?
• What is inside. Is the body a solid shape, or does damage depend on what is underneath?
• Tools. A range of guns, blades, fire and explosives, and ways to look at the result.
• Access. Whether it needs a download, an account or a powerful PC.

What makes Flopbox different from other ragdoll games?

Layered anatomy

Each dummy has skin, fat, muscle, bone, organs and vessels. Acid eats down through the layers in order, and a wound opens the tissue under it.

X-ray

Switch it on and see the skeleton, organs and vessels, with bullets leaving real holes through them.

Autopsy cam

After a kill, time stops and the body is sliced open along the bullet path to show what it crossed.

Real bullet paths

The wound is the path the round took through the body, not a spot painted on the surface. The .308 kill cam follows the bullet in.

Injuries that matter

Bones fracture where they are hit, limbs come off at joints from sustained damage, bleeding depends on which vessel was hit, and a tourniquet works. Body wounds can put someone down in shock, and they can come round.

What games are like People Playground in the browser?

People Playground is a 2D sandbox sold as a PC game; it is a different game and is not affiliated with Flopbox. Flopbox shares the open-ended idea (a body, a set of tools, no goals) but is 3D, first-person and plays in a browser tab with no download. Its focus is what happens inside the body: layered anatomy, X-ray, an autopsy cam and bullet paths. It does not have contraption building or user mods, which People Playground is known for.

Is there a ragdoll sandbox unblocked?

Flopbox is a ragdoll sandbox unblocked by the usual install restrictions, because it runs in the browser with nothing to install. It is a normal website, so it can still be blocked by a school or work network that filters sites; there is no way around that from our side.

Which ragdoll physics game has realistic injuries?

Realistic ragdoll injuries are what Flopbox is built around. It is a crash test dummy game and test dummy simulator in the sense that every dummy carries a skeleton, organs, vessels and a blood supply, so a hit has a different result depending on where it lands. Bones fracture where they are struck, joints wear down under repeated damage until a limb separates (dismemberment physics), bleeding depends on which vessel was opened, and dummies can be put down in shock and come round. You can inspect all of it with X-ray, the vitals panel and the autopsy view, which makes it closer to a bone fracture simulation and an X-ray anatomy game than to a pure toy.

Can you play a ragdoll game without downloading anything?

Yes. Flopbox is a 3D ragdoll game online: it runs in the browser on desktop and phones, and it has a lighter classic version for slow devices. Because it is a physics sandbox game with no download, it starts as soon as the page has loaded.

What does Flopbox not do?

It is one test-facility room. There is no multiplayer, no level editor, no vehicles and no story. If you want a game with goals or building tools, this is not that. If you want to look closely at how a body takes damage, that is what it is for.
